Description: Doctors used to make house calls. Now death does.
Ace Minneapolis private detective Justinia (“Tina”) Wright doesn’t like to work. But her brother, Harry, definitely likes a paycheck. So when Tina sends Dr Merkman away, Harry decides he’ll take on the doctor’s case.
But when Merkman ends up dead, and Tina’s detective business is threatened, she accepts Lt. Swenson’s invite to consult on the case.
However, the investigation quickly turns into a game of motive, motive, who has a motive — and no one seems to have one.
Tina, though, has to find one and quick. Because Merkman’s brother and sister want answers and they want them fast. And if they don’t get them, they’ve vowed to make life very difficult for the ace detective.
Death Makes a House Call is the seventh book in the Justinia Wright, Private Investigator Mysteries series. If you like traditional mysteries, along the lines of Nero Wolfe or Hercule Poirot, with wise-cracking humor and enough thrills and spills to keep things interesting, then you’ll love this latest installment in CW Hawes’s page-turning series.

My review: It’s fun to find a new series to love! The “Justinia Wright Mysteries” is that series!
In “Death Makes A House Call,” the story line is easy to follow, well thought out, and entertaining. You’re wondering who the killer is until the very end. The author keeps things light and cozy by including just the right amount of humor, some likable pets, and lots of tempting meals. Justinia, the chief investigator and a person with lots of quirky habits, plays perfectly against her thoughtful, sometimes teasing, and mostly agreeable brother, Harry.
This is the first “Justinia Wright” book that I’ve read, and I enjoyed it. Great descriptions made it easy to get to know the characters, and I didn’t feel like I had to catch up on whatever happened in the previous books. That’s what makes this story a perfect stand-alone mystery. However, this series is instantly addictive, and you probably won’t want to stop at just one “Justinia Wright” novel. I can highly recommend this book to anyone who loves likeable main characters and a mystery with lots of unexpected twists.
