The evidence of Arndt, an evil man who is pursuing the travelers puts everyone in Gettis at risk. Without alerting the outside world of their portal, can they defeat Arndt and his men, and live happily ever after?

I loved this extraordinary story that includes time portals, pets that aren’t really what they appear to be, and Vikings invading a back yard in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania! I read it while I was on a family holiday, and I found it to be the perfect tale to enjoy before I went to sleep and when I woke up each morning.

This story includes a wonderful romance between Maggie, a modern day massage therapist, and Joren, a striking Viking warrior, but it also revolves around their families. The story’s characters not only have to interact with their current family, but they’re brought face to face with ancestors who lived a thousand years ago. Needless to say, the people who come forward from the past are confronted with a wholly new way of living. Happily, the author does an excellent job of contrasting the old and the new while finding ways to integrate the two. We’re shown how differently ancient peoples viewed the world, but also how the heart and spirit of a person remains timeless.

This book and two others in the series added an extra festive feeling to my vacation. I highly recommend all three books!
