Description: Bodyguard: Alex Harmon runs his world by 3 bull’s-eye rules:
1) Don’t whine about client chaos, gun battles or insane work weeks.
2) There is no such thing as the unexpected.
3) Never again – guard a woman client.
Client: Tori Donavan built her world on 3 cement-solid rules:
1) Building sky scrapers requires tenacious focus and insane work weeks.
2) Burglaries, computer espionage & stalkers interfere with rule#1.
3) Never again – love a dangerous man.
When rules clash, who wins?
Review: Smoldering thriller that keeps you turning pages!
Victoria Donavan knows all about violence. She’s been recently widowed. Her husband, a law enforcement officer, was brutally killed the year before. She’s just pulling her life back together when a stalker enters the picture.
After having her home invaded by a very scary intruder, Victoria, Tori, is forced to face another harrowing experience. But there’s help on the way. Her deceased husband’s family hires the best person to protect Tori. His name is Alex Harmon. When he shows up, ready to do whatever it takes to keep her safe, Tori has to do the last thing she wants to do, be involved with another, extremely attractive man who’s life involves constant danger. Tori doesn’t want Alex’s help. Unfortunately, with her life at stake, she needs him.
If you want a well-written, romantic thriller, Harm’s Way is your ticket. Its main characters, Alex Harmon and Victoria Donavan, are the perfect twosome to capture your attention and keep it focused on what’s going to happen next.
The author has clearly mastered the “show, don’t tell” rule of writing. Her style pulls you into the page and provides everything you need to viscerally experience the characters, their actions and the urgency of the moment. Alex and Tori’s highly-charged attraction, contrasted against their scarred backgrounds and strong personalities, had me turning pages and relishing the narrative. Next, throw in a tense, always-in-your-face mystery that’s fueled by a clearly demented but intelligent villain, and I can truly say that I enjoyed a most satisfying read with Harm’s Way. I’m looking forward to the author publishing book two of the Donovan Legacy series. Five smoldering stars for this one.
