Descriptions:
When the lure of other people’s money is too great to resist…

Embezzlement and gold-digging hit close to home when two friends from Madeline’s past seek her help with delicate personal matters that could have lasting repercussions.

When funds go missing, Madeline must hunt down the trusted bookkeeper who can set things right… before her employer takes the blame.

The fast-approaching nuptials of his recently widowed father prompt another old friend to ask Madeline to do a background check on the much younger fiancée. It doesn’t take long to figure out the woman is not who she claims to be. But who is she really?

While Madeline and her team search for the missing bookkeeper and try to get the skinny on the possible gold-digger, startling connections begin to appear that will leave you following the trail of other people’s money until the very last page.

Other People’s Money is the seventh book in the beloved Madeline Dawkins series of mystery novels.

Review: A wonderful mystery that keeps the reader guessing to the end!

Our heroine, private investigator Madeline Dawkins, and her team, have their hands full when they take on three time-sensitive cases at once. One involves, Jane, a former, best friend of Madeline’s. Jane is desperate and asks for help. Her husband’s company is threatened by the scandal that comes with embezzlement, not to mention the identity of the culprit. It’s a friend who’s been loyal up to now. A second case pops up when a woman goes missing. The third case is one that’s all about emotional vulnerability. A very wealthy, recently widowed man named George is in the clutches of a very smart, gold-digger named Daphne Collins. George’s son asks Madeline to ferret out the truth about Daphne, but it seems almost impossible to accomplish the task. Daphne is a woman who knows how to cover her tracks. Plus, widower George is totally smitten with Daphne and believes her lies.

Author Cynthia Hamilton is an expert at creating a sense of tension throughout the book. I found myself so absorbed in the story that I was constantly cheering on Madeline and her team. “Find the unsavory guy who’s using women for gain, and for goodness sakes, stop the despicable Daphne Collins before she takes George to the cleaners!”

I enjoyed the interactions between Madeline, her husband and their employees. There were no super egos involved. The team worked as a unit, and everyone helped to move the cases forward in a believable, intelligent manner. The dialog and character development were written in such a way that made the story exciting, but also easy to understand and follow.

OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY is a mystery that pulls in the reader. It presents lots of problems to ponder and keeps one guessing until the end. Highly recommended.

This is the seventh book in the series, but it can definitely be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone mystery.
