Cathleen Maza's Christmas RoseChristmas Rose (The Christmas Rose Trilogy Book 1)
by Cathleen Maza

Description: Sometimes you have to add the family nut to make just the right mix of holiday magic.
This holiday season, Carolyn Kent’s world seems to be falling down around her. Still reeling from the death of her husband over the summer, she isn’t in the mood to celebrate much of anything. While her heart aches to provide a normal Christmas for her daughter, Carolyn fears she no longer has the ability to make anything festive. To make matters worse, her meddling mother has encouraged the most annoying member of the family to make an extended visit over the holidays. Will the arrival of Christmas Rose be Carolyn’s undoing or is there still a little yuletide cheer waiting to be found?

My Review: A lovely Christmas story of what helps a broken heart to heal.

After reading this wonderful holiday tale, I thought about a quote by Nietzsche that I saw on social media.

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”

Carolyn Kent can’t hear the music. Her heart is broken after the death of her husband. When it’s time to celebrate Christmas, she can’t see past her sorrow. She’s worn down by her grief, and the arrival of a ‘crazy’ relative is the last thing she wants in her life. Her happy, smiling cousin is called Christmas Rose, and Carolyn has no intention of letting Rose’s Christmas cheer change her grieving heart.

The process of healing is a delicate process, but Christmas Rose is more than bright and sunny. She has wisdom on her side, and she’s not a quitter. She’ll do whatever she can to help Carolyn find the glimmer of light she needs to lift some of her unhappiness.

This is a lovely Christmas story about what it takes to help heal a broken heart. It sparkles and shines with the Christmas spirit. When I reached the end, I had to purchase the second book. I had to see what happened next in the lives of Carolyn and Christmas Rose. Highly recommended!
