A wonderful and satisfying book that I can highly recommend as your next five star read!

What’s not to like about ASCENDANT? It has an awesome parallel world, astonishing but very unusual characters, adventure, action and magic! Its heroine, Sybelle, is very likable and smart. Her decisions are well thought out and reasonable. The man she falls in love with is Kestrel. He’s a multi-layered hero, awesome protector and warrior. He has a wise, caring heart in spite of what he’s suffered at the hands of a maniacal, extremely cruel villain.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Sybelle and Kestrel. In many romances, the man and woman are constantly at odds with each other. In this story, the two certainly have their differences, but more than anything, they truly care about each other. It’s satisfying to watch them change and grow as the story progresses.

Author Vicki Stiefel has created an extraordinary, parallel world that quickly draws the reader in. Eleutia is much like Earth as far as its flora and fauna. Its plants and animals are similar, but everything on Eleutia is so much more fantastic and magical than what we experience on Earth. Trees and plants express their feelings, and animals and humans are symbionts that share an important and unique relationship.

The world of Eleutia includes some strange, engineered inhabitants, called CastOuts. They are exceptionally diverse and different from the norm, but they’re presented in a way that broadens one’s view on what’s important about any sentient being. It’s not what’s on the outside that counts, but what’s on the inside.

ASCENDANT is the third book in The Made Ones Saga! If you’re looking for an amazing, summer series, why not read all three books.
