What motivates you to write, and how did you get started?

That’s a great question. I always felt I had a story to tell. My intention for writing my first book, Broken Pieces, wasn’t to publish the story. It was something I needed to write. With all that I went through it was so hard to keep it in. However, as the saying goes, everything happens for a reason. My childhood was very disturbing and no fairy-tale. I would say more like years filled with child neglect and family abuse. Broken Pieces is heart-shattering. Everyone has been through the good, bad, and the ugly. I felt I needed to share mine. I believe a lot of people have related to this story. My goal is to let my Readers know that they are not alone. That is my motivation. Life teaches us to survive and try to conquer the trials the world throws our way.

What’s most rewarding about writing?

The most rewarding thing about writing, for me, is being creative and letting my imagination run wild. I enjoy sharing my stories and entertaining the readers. I have marvelous ideas and a lot of energy for telling stories. The most enjoyable part of writing is being able to capture the attention of readers. I love to make them laugh, cry, and feel all types of emotions. That gives me such a gratifying smile.

What’s your favorite genre and why?

I have to say my favorite genre is Romance. A love story is an emotional and satisfying read. However, I do read all types of styles.

Where do your characters come from?

My characters come from my artistic mind. I love creating them and making them realistic.

Who is an author who inspires you and why?
Enough Is Enough by Martha Perez

I have many authors who inspire me. However, Sylvia Day is one of my favorites. Then there’s Megan Hart, Charlotte Bronte, Sandy S. Bazinet, Jason Foss, and so many more. They all have a unique style that keeps me fascinated.

What do you look for in other people’s books?

I look for unique styles. The more authentic the better. Their writing is so descriptive that their words heighten all my senses. I am a vivid reader. I don’t look for mistakes. I just look for a good book that touches my soul and keeps me engaged throughout the story.

Tell us about your newest book or what you’re writing now.

I just finished Wicked Spirits. It’s wild and sinful short stories. I am writing a short novel called The Workplace. It’s about a young girl that works in a factory. The other workers are cruel people that make her life miserable. She is forced to work there because her mother is very ill. She had to find a way to pay her rent and bills. This book is in the 70s era. It’s a thriller, mystery, and a romance book.

What kind of book would you like to be known for?

I want to be known as the author of Broken Pieces. It was tough writing the story of my life. There were many reasons why I did not promote it as being based on a true story. Even though I made the main character’s name Abby and labeled it as fiction, you can take my word for it, that it’s about me. For the most part, Broken Pieces is the story of my life.

What has writing taught you about yourself?
My Beloved Son by Martha Perez
Writing has taught me how to learn and improve. Also, it helped me to use my imagination and creativity. I find that I am more self-disciplined. It’s a great way to keep my mind busy.

How has your life experience influenced your writing?

My life experience influenced me to write My Beloved Son. When my son passed away I needed to write about him. As an author, it was a challenging time in my life to write his story. The book is about the reality of life, grieving, and sorrow. Broken Pieces is about my journey. These two books are my heart and soul.

What encouraging advice can you offer new writers?

Follow your dreams in life even when you think it’s not possible. I’m living proof. My dreams came true and yours can too. To climb the highest mountain, you have to struggle with each grip and foothold, to reach the top. I believe you can do it. Take the chance and you’ll see what I experienced.
