Review: “A wonderful continuation of the first book!”
In this second book in the series, the fascinating tale of a time portal and Viking ancestors meeting their modern day family continues. It’s also a continuation of the story of Captain David Heacock, a Civil War doctor, who had the misfortune of traveling through two time portals. The first portal led to the past and a Viking settlement where he was brutalized. However, he later accompanies the Vikings through a second portal that leads to modern day Gettysburg.

David and Laurel’s story started in book one, ESCAPE TO GETTIS…AND LOVE. In book two, David continues to be attracted to Laurel, Maggie’s daughter. But as time passes, they both wonder if they have a future together. Laurel, a nurse, finds that she’s attracted to a handsome doctor, while David discovers more about who he is as a person. He’s particularly drawn to the idea of writing stories and pursuing a career.

As their paths diverge, other characters from book one continue to adjust to the complexities involved in modern day living. For example, Joren, who once viewed himself as a warrior, finds out that he has natural healing abilities. He’s also engaged to Maggie and excited about their life together. But as he’s settling into his life, more people come through the time portal, including two of his children that he never knew he had.

So the adventure continues, and I loved all the new revelations that are presented. I highly recommend this second book in the series!
